Grand Ice is designer Ava Solomon Polan’s answer to what she couldn’t find in most stores: affordable and imaginative gemstones that can be worn day or night—and as easily with a pair of jeans as a cocktail dress.

Gems That See The Light

Ava created Grand Ice to bring fine gemstone jewelry out of the drawer and into the daylight. Living in California’s Santa Ynez Valley, where horse country meets the wine country, she observed that many women love to wear fine jewelry in casual, everyday settings. Yet she also saw that most fine colored gems are too pricey and lavish to wear during the day.

Her solution was to craft a collection of gemstone jewelry that finds the “middle ground” and captures the essence of practical luxury: artful, versatile pieces that can be worn for all occasions.

Uncompromising Cut and Color

To craft her one-of-a-kind earrings, necklaces and bracelets, Ava searches the world for the finest, natural gems, from pink tourmaline to icy black diamonds, blue topaz and ruby spinel.

Ava works closely with a renowned family of gem cutters in India, whose expertise ensures that each gem is cut to the highest standards. The gems are mostly bound in hand-forged 18 karat or higher white, yellow gold or sterling silver settings, and all pieces are fitted with the finest clasps available.

Magnifying Beauty

With a creative eye—and a liberal dose of poetic license—Ava invests all of her jewelry with custom design, simple elegance and brilliant color. Ava believes that women possess an instinct to express their beauty through jewelry, and she maintains a deep personal love for drawing out this beauty through gemstones.
